Palma's centre is about a five-minute drive from Son Vida, and EMT bus line 7 also links the estate to the city. One fixed address within Son Vida is the golf club at Camí de Son Vida 38, from where a complimentary shuttle runs to the three golf courses and the resort's two five-star hotels. Unlike a town with a historic centre, Son Vida has no central square or park; owners are organised through their own association.
The Hospital Universitari Son Espases is nearby, on the Carretera de Valldemossa. Families with children can reach the British schools Bellver College, which by its own account has been Spain's oldest private British school since 1950, and Queen's College, which has offered the British A Level programme since 1977, both close to Palma. Golfers find three 18-hole courses within Son Vida itself, plus a short course with 63 holes in total across the resort.
Golf Son Vida opened in 1964, designed by W. Hawtree, and was redesigned in 2001 by Kurt Rossknecht: 18 holes, par 71, 5,601 metres. The Castillo Hotel Son Vida lies between the three courses. Golf Son Muntaner opened in May 2000, designed by Kurt Rossknecht: 18 holes, par 72, 6,305 metres. It belongs to the Arabella golf resort and is linked to Son Vida and the resort's hotels by a complimentary shuttle.
Golf Son Quint opened in May 2007, designed by Ramón Espinosa and Kurt Rossknecht: 18 holes, par 71, 5,750 metres. Together with Son Vida and Son Muntaner it forms the 63-hole Arabella golf resort, which also includes the Palma Pitch & Putt short course. The best-known address is the Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a five-star Luxury Collection property with 164 rooms including 10 suites, three restaurants, two bars and a 900 square-metre spa with three pools. The building began as a fortified estate and has operated as a hotel since 1961; the Schörghuber group took it over in 1995 and renovated it for 27 million euros in 2005 and 2006. Nearby, the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel has 93 rooms and suites right on the fairways of Golf Son Vida.
Golf defines the area: three 18-hole courses and a short course make up the Arabella resort, and the original Son Vida course hosted a European Tour event twice, in 1990 and 1994. All three courses sit within a few minutes of each other and share a complimentary shuttle with the resort's hotels.
Holiday letting of flats in multi-family buildings has been banned in Palma since 2018; Spain's Supreme Court upheld the ban in February 2023. Across the Balearics, Decree-Law 4/2025 adds that no new tourist places may be created in multi-family buildings; new places are only possible through a 1:1 swap for deregistered ones. These rules apply specifically to flats in multi-family buildings. Whether and how they affect an individual villa in Son Vida needs checking case by case before any purchase; this is not legal advice.

Villa Malgrats was amazing! Spacious, beautifully decorated, and well appointed.
